Frustrated Arsenal fans kept their word by carrying out a planned protest at the Emirates Stadium during Saturday’s Premier League game with Norwich.

Three leading fans’ groups, Black Scarf Movement, REDaction and the Arsenal Supporters’ Trust carried out the ‘Time for Change’ demonstration by holding up banners with the slogan ‘Arsenal is stale — fresh approach needed’  in the 12th and 78th minute of the game.

The protest was to remind the club’s hierarchy of the 12-year title drought the team are currently experiencing under boss Arsene Wenger, with fans appearing to have run out of patience with both the Frenchman and majority shareholder Stan Kroenke.

However, the protest was a rather half-hearted effort with only 200 fans reportedly taking part and just a minute later, a chants of ‘There’s only one Arsene Wenger’ reverberated around the stadium.

Arsenal fans have witnessed their side’s title challenge fall apart over the last few months, with defeats to the likes of Swansea City and Manchester United allowing Leicester City to build a commanding lead.

Losses to Barcelona and Watford have also seen the side crash out of the Champions League and FA Cup.
